Venus and Adonis
This piece, which has a mythological connotation, is not based on Ovid´s work but rather on Shakespeare´s lengthy poem on Venus and Adonis. It portrays Venus desire for Adonis and his refusal. Ultimately she achieves her goal but, the following day, he abandons her to go hunting, in spite of her premonitions of imminent danger because a wild boar kills ADonis. This piece is an excellent allegory of both love and pain, which always go hand in hand.
